stanley anscorm has finished the follow-up to battle beyond the sun. you can expect two epic tracks on this nearly 30 minutes record. although the tracks are based on identical compositional material, they shine in very different color. the black side is of high density and impresses with remarkable bass figures which seems to grow on the fundamental principles of low frequencies. these figures are easily carrying loads of percussions and even an orchestral set of horns which does not seem to be from this world. the white side can be understand as a lighter interpretation of the same topic and it is thrill of its own to discover the intersections between the two tracks. sure, this music is nothing you listen to in an elevator - stanleys art demands attention, there is no doubt about this - but the reward you get if you listen or dance to it with an open heart is of a kind you might never come in contact with somewhere else.

together through life is bob dylans upcoming 33rd studio album (around his 60th album if you count official live albums and compilations). dylan produced the record under the pseudonym of jack frost, which he used for his previous two studio albums, love and theft and modern times. dylan revealed that the new record was heavily influenced by the sound of chess records and sun records. in an interview on his website bobdylan.com, the 67 year old singer compares the sounds of together through life, to the 1950s sounds of blues singers willie dixon and howlin wolf. dylan has a tough record to follow after his 2006 release modern times won two grammys and became his first number one record in the u.s. since 1976.

!!!!!!strictly limited to 500 copies!!!!!! together with stefan goldmanns debut cd the transitory state, macro releases a strictly limited box set containing five 7? records holding the electroacoustic album voices of the dead. with his releases for innervisions, perlon and macro stefan goldmann has been a key figure at the cutting edge of post minimal techno and the renewal of house music. this album is a distinctively different affair though, reaching far beyond the scope of dancefloor electronics. starting a trilogy of concept albums, stefan goldmann searches for the common root of all music in an electroacoustic setting. from this album turret is already renowned as the intro sequence of richie hawtins groundbreaking de9 transitions mix compilation and was also commissioned by the biblioteque nationale de france for the imeb phonoteque public collection. the artist explains: at first sight we recognise upfront elements like a melody or rhythmic pattern, which we associate with a certain piece or style of music, but there is tension between two notes, hard-to-define background information that at a closer look is found everywhere - within the music of coltrane and stravinsky, death metal and 9th century byzantine chants. if there is anything like a total, secret common ground, than its this information lurking in the background. these are the voices of the dead, the heritage of an endless line of ancestors brought forward through the centuries. i tried to make these elements audible as clearly as possible. really like this weird space ambient one. ive put katorga and izo already into my final scratch computer and have been playing them! yore returns with a true dream team split ep, pairing yore label head andy vaz with sistrum manager patrice scott. vaz is up first with a beautiful slice of old-school funk and soul within a deep house formula, >back to square one< that has a whole lot more in common with isaac hayes and james brown than with juan atkins or any other techno icon. accompanied by a wah-wah guitar figure and claps, a bullet-proof bass line leads a nine-minute charge thats quickly bolstered by a slinkily swinging drum groove. creamy synth chords and blazing horns intermittently spill over the pulsating mix and then vanish, leaving space for the rhythm to intensify and the track to grow ever more euphoric (and even, towards its close, a bit acidy). a true mission into both funk and house, which again showcases vazs ultimate diversity as an outstanding producer. scott titled his second sistrum release beyond deep and the title might just as easily apply to the b-side >aztecal< where the detroit producer slathers shimmering stabs and congealing streams over a thudding kick drum and flickering percussive detail. while vazs cut draws inspiration from the timeless traditions of decades past, scotts looks towards the future when its gleaming shuttle lifts off in pursuit of distant galaxies.
